We Need Your Help

Nevada Animal Owners Alliance was founded to help protect animal owners, their animals and their animal enterprises/businesses from the anti-owner agenda of the animal rights movement.  Come and join us at the legislature on February 19, 2015, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Nevada animal owners are facing no less than a half a dozen bills this legislative session that are being sponsored and pushed by the national animal rights groups, including the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), ASPCA, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, and by animal rights (not welfare) groups located throughout the state.  While we don’t yet know the reach and scope of all the bills yet, we do know several have the potential to further restrict or eliminate our rights as animal owners and that move the animal rights agenda further toward their goal of getting animals out of ownership status.

HSUS has organized a lobby day for all the animal rights groups the week before.  We need to have a bigger show of support for common sense animal care than what they are going to have.  If we can outnumber them and have some good discussions with our legislators, we will hopefully be able to influence this session.  If we can put in a good showing here, it will make our jobs of defending our rights and our animals throughout the rest of the session easier.

We need the help of all Nevada animal owners who love their animals and want to continue to be able to provide them the care that we know they need and deserve.  WE ARE THE ANIMAL EXPERTS, and we need to let the legislators know that in no uncertain terms.

We will have packets of information for you outlining the bills we know are coming, and we will have information available to you so that you can pay a visit to your legislator and let them know how you feel about the issues and to let them know that you, not a national animal rights group with no animal husbandry experience, are the expert in animal care for your chosen species.  We need dog owners, horse owners, exotics owners, reptile owners, cat owners, bird owners, rabbit owners, livestock owners, and any owner or breeder in Nevada to come out and help us take back this conversation.  We will also provide information on what NAOA has planned as we go forward in the session and how you can stay connected and help throughout the session as these bills go forward.  Please come out and join us!!  We can’t do this without you!

RSVP to Chris Vaught at Vaught.naoa@yahoo.com so that we have a general idea of how many folks to expect.  And share this with your respective animal groups and clubs and encourage as many caring animal owners to come out as possible.  We also would love to have anyone with service animals join us so that the legislators can see what well bred animals contribute to our society.
